What to Expect From Our Storm and Ice Dam Restoration
Before we talk about repairs, we protect your property from further weather damage. Then, we’ll walk you through everything the storm damaged, outside and in, including damage you’d never spot from the room below, so you can make decisions with the whole picture and address hidden moisture before it turns into mold or rot.
From the start, you won’t lose time figuring out whether to call a roofer, a restoration company, or a contractor, because we handle all three. While we work, you’ll know where things stand. We send you updates as the repairs move along and keep your adjuster in the loop on the claim, and if you’re out of town when the storm hits, you can stay put while we look after it. When we finish, you get your property back the way you remember it, and the only reminder of the storm is the newer shingles overhead. That’s the Rocky Mountain experience.

Our Storm and Ice Dam Restoration Process
01 We send a crew to secure the property
Before calling, ensure everyone stays out from under a sagging ceiling until we’ve checked it. We answer 24/7, and a crew is usually at the property within the hour to tarp damaged roofing, board up broken windows, and keep meltwater or rain from getting any further inside.
02 We inspect the roof and trace the water
We check the roof, gutters, and attic to find where the water got in, then trace how far it spread through insulation, ceilings, and walls, so you know the extent of the damage before work begins.
03 We dry the building from the roof down
We extract standing water, pull out soaked insulation and ceiling sections that can’t be saved, and dry the framing and roof decking, checking moisture every day until everything reads dry.
04 We repair the roof and finish the interior
Once the repair estimate is approved, we complete the roofing and replace the insulation, drywall, and paint inside, so your property is ready to live in or reopen.

Why Rocky Mountain Gets the Call After a Storm
Storm damage rarely stops at the shingles, so we handle the roof and everything below it as one job, with crews who know where meltwater hides in mountain homes. We can cover the opening at any hour, your adjuster works with one company instead of two, and a supervisor confirms the roof decking is dry before new roofing goes on.

01 One contractor for the roof and the rooms below
We manage the roof repair and the interior rebuild together, so you only have to work with one company for the whole repair.
02 Experience with mountain conditions
Ice dams, heavy snow loads, and high-country storms are a regular part of our work, so we know how meltwater gets in and where it hides in insulation and ceilings.
03 Fast tarping, day or night
Whenever you call, we typically have a crew there in about an hour to cover the opening, so snow and rain stop coming in before they reach more rooms.
04 One contact for your adjuster
Most storm jobs involve damage outside and inside, and since we handle both, your adjuster gets the photos and repair estimate for all of it from us instead of two contractors.
05 Checked before the roof is closed
A supervisor reviews every storm job at key stages, so the decking is confirmed dry and sound before it’s covered again.

More Restoration Services After a Storm
Water that gets past the roof can end up in the walls, attic, and floors below, so many storm jobs also call for our water, mold, and reconstruction services.
-
Water Damage
If rain or meltwater has run down inside the walls or under the floors, our water crews dry the framing, subfloor, and insulation, so moisture isn’t left behind the finishes once the roof is fixed.
Water damage restoration → -
Frozen & Burst Pipes
The same deep cold that builds ice dams can freeze pipes in exterior walls, and when one splits, we shut off the supply and dry the studs and subfloor before the damage spreads, then put the wall back together.
Frozen pipe cleanup → -
Fire & Smoke Damage
Lightning can start a fire in the attic or along the wiring, and we board up and secure the building right away, then clean the soot and smoke, so the storm repair and the fire repair happen as one job.
Fire damage restoration → -
Mold Remediation
When a slow ice dam leak has kept the attic damp for weeks, we contain and remove any mold on the decking or rafters and replace the wet insulation, so no mold is sealed in under the new roof.

Storms here hit more than the roof, so we cover any openings, dry out the attic and the rooms underneath, and restore the roof, siding, windows, decks, and interior rooms the storm damaged.

Reconstruction
When a storm damages the structure or a whole section of the building, we rebuild it, including the framing, drywall, roofing, and paint, so the new section looks like it was always there.

When wet carpet holds a lingering smell, our carpet cleaning and odor removal services take care of it. Larger openings in a ceiling or wall sometimes need asbestos testing and removal first, and we handle that as well, along with the insurance claims for every part of the job. Not sure what you need? Call us.

Grand County Storm and Ice Dam Restoration FAQs
Besides the ceiling, what other parts of my property are at risk?
More than you might think. When an ice dam traps water on your roof, it backs up under the shingles and can soak the roof decking, your attic insulation, and the tops of your exterior walls near the eaves, often before you see anything inside. We use a thermal camera and moisture meters to find it, then dry what we can save and replace the rest.
Can wet attic insulation be dried, or does it all have to come out?
It depends on what kind you have. Fiberglass batts wet from a clean roof leak can often be dried, though we’ll replace them if they’re heavily soaked. Loose-fill cellulose is a different story. Once it’s wet, it mats down and holds water against your ceiling drywall, so we take it out and put in new insulation once the attic is dry.
Will the water stain on my ceiling come back after it’s painted?
Not if it’s done right. A water stain will bleed through regular paint, so we make sure the ceiling is dry first, seal the stain with a stain-blocking primer, and then paint. When we’re done, the repair blends in with the rest of your ceiling.
Can my roof be repaired in the middle of winter?
Yes. We’ll tarp the opening as soon as it’s safe to get up there and start drying out the inside right away. Shingles need some warmth to seal, so we hand-seal any we install in the cold, and some of the final roofing may wait for a warmer stretch. Your interior repairs keep going in the meantime.
Can a roof that sagged under heavy snow be repaired?
Often, yes. We brace the structure and close it in first, then rebuild the damaged rafters or trusses to an engineer’s design. The new framing is sized for the snow loads we get at this elevation, so it can handle the snow your roof actually sees.
Why is the ceiling stain nowhere near the leak?
Water rarely drips straight down. It usually runs along the rafters and the underside of the roof before it falls, so the stain can show up several feet from where the water is actually getting in. We follow the staining in your attic back uphill, check the valleys, vents, chimney, and skylights, and fix the roof where the leak starts.
