Our Asbestos Testing and Removal Process
01 We test before anything comes out
Call us to schedule a free assessment. We sample the drywall, joint compound, insulation, or other materials the repair will disturb and test them for asbestos, along with lead paint in pre-1978 homes.
02 We seal off the area
If a sample comes back positive, we seal the doors and vents around the work area and set up HEPA-filtered negative air before any material is disturbed, and the containment stays in place until the cleanup is done.
03 We remove and dispose of the material
Inside the sealed area, we keep the material damp while we remove it, so the fibers stay out of the air. Everything we remove is sealed in heavy bags and taken to an approved disposal site, and before the containment comes down, we HEPA-vacuum and wipe down the whole work area, so the room is clean when we reopen it.
04 We finish the repairs
With the asbestos gone, we pick the original repair back up. We finish any drying or mold work, replace the insulation, drywall, ceilings, or flooring that came out, and paint and trim the room to match the rest of your home, so it’s ready for everyday use again.

Do you test for asbestos before fire damage cleanup?
Yes, before we remove burned drywall, ceilings, or insulation in larger amounts. Board-up and tarping can start right away. Once we know what the damaged materials contain, the soot cleanup and rebuild move forward with the right precautions in place.
What materials in a mountain or log home can contain asbestos?
Quite a few common ones, including drywall joint compound, textured ceilings, vinyl flooring and the adhesive under it, vermiculite attic insulation, boiler and pipe insulation, the walls and floors around older wood stoves, chimney materials, and older roofing, siding, and log chinking. We test any of these your project will touch, so you know exactly which ones need special handling.
If asbestos turns up, does the whole house have to be abated?
No. We only remove the materials your repair has to open up. Asbestos elsewhere in the house that’s in good condition can stay where it is, undisturbed. Once the removal is done, we rebuild what we opened and leave everything else as it was.
Does old vermiculite insulation in the attic have to come out?
Only if the work will disturb it. If an ice dam leak, roof damage, or a fire soaks or opens up the attic, we treat the vermiculite as if it contains asbestos and remove it under containment before the repair moves forward.
Do I need an asbestos test before a remodel?
Often, yes. Code requires asbestos testing before a project removes more than 32 square feet of drywall or other material that crumbles easily, so we sample whatever your remodel will disturb before demolition starts.
Will asbestos testing hold up our water damage cleanup?
Not the urgent part. Water extraction and dehumidifying start right away, and only the steps that would disturb possible asbestos-containing materials wait for test results. If the results come back clear, that work picks up immediately. If they don’t, the asbestos comes out first, which can add some time.
