Can the smell from a sewage backup be completely removed?
Yes. Sewage soaks into porous materials like carpet, pad, and drywall, so we remove them, then clean, disinfect, and dry the subfloor and framing underneath before the room is put back together. Once the contaminated materials are gone, the smell has nothing left to come from.
What if I can’t tell where the smell is coming from?
We’ll find it. Smells travel, so the room where you notice one often isn’t where it starts. We check the places and materials that tend to hold odor, like carpet pad under a stain, damp drywall, insulation, attics, and crawl spaces. Moisture meters and a thermal camera show us damp spots behind walls and under floors, so we treat every source.
Will the smell come back after you’re done?
Not once the source has been removed, and the result is guaranteed. Odors return when residue is left in porous materials or belongings, and warm or humid days bring the smell back out. That’s why we clean the structure and your belongings and seal porous materials before we call the job done.
Can pet urine smell be removed from carpet and floors?
Usually, yes. Small spots that stayed in the carpet can be treated and cleaned in place. Urine from larger animals often soaks through to the pad and subfloor, so we replace the affected pad and treat and seal the subfloor underneath, or replace that section of subfloor if it’s too far gone.
Can a house that was smoked in for years smell clean again?
Yes, in most cases. Nicotine and tar leave a film on walls and ceilings, and soft materials soak up the smell. We wash the walls and ceilings, seal them with an odor-blocking primer before paint, and clean or replace the soft materials, so the smell doesn’t bleed back through.
Can you remove the smell when an animal has died inside a wall or crawl space?
Yes, once we find and remove the source. That often means opening a small section of wall or ceiling, taking out the animal and anything it soiled, then cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing the area before we patch it, so the smell leaves with the source.
