What to Expect From Our Biohazard Cleanup
After everything you’ve been through, the cleanup shouldn’t fall to you or anyone you love, and with Rocky Mountain Catastrophe & Restoration, it won’t. From the first call, we answer your questions patiently and work directly with the agencies, property managers, and insurers involved, so you aren’t caught in the middle. Throughout the job, we treat the property and everything in it the way you’d want them treated.
Some families want to hear about every step, and some would rather not know the details, so we follow your lead. Either way, nothing is left behind for you to clean or repair. We can’t undo what happened, but we can return the space to the way it looked before, so you can use it again on your own terms.

Our Biohazard Cleanup Process
01 We answer your questions and send a crew
Whenever you call, we’ll explain what to expect and how to keep everyone out of the affected area. We coordinate with the agencies and property managers involved and our crew will be there once the property is released.
02 We keep the cleanup contained
We seal off the affected area and protect the surrounding rooms before any work begins. That keeps contamination from spreading to the rest of the property while we clean.
03 We remove, clean, and disinfect
We remove contaminated materials and any belongings that can’t be saved, and dispose of them properly. Then we clean and disinfect every affected surface and treat any odor at its source.
04 We restore the space
If flooring, drywall, or other materials had to come out, our construction crew replaces them so the room can be used again. If there’s an insurance claim, we coordinate with your adjuster.

When You’re Ready, We’ll Handle the Cleanup
Call 24/7 with your questions, and we’ll have a trained crew ready to start once the scene has been released.

The Same Crew Since 2008, With a New Mountain on the Jacket
You might know us as RMCAT, from the diamond logo on our beanies or the tie-dye we wear to every community event. Our logo has changed, but our people, our local roots, and our fast response haven’t.
We take our work seriously, even if we don’t always take ourselves that seriously.

Other Damage We Can Handle During the Cleanup
If the cleanup uncovers other damage, we handle that too, so there’s no one new to call.
-
Water Damage
When a sewage backup or overflow is part of the cleanup, our water crews extract it, remove the flooring and drywall it soaked, and disinfect and dry the area before anything is rebuilt.
Water damage restoration → -
Frozen & Burst Pipes
When a property sits empty through a cold snap and a frozen pipe splits near the scene, we turn off the water, dry out every wall and floor it reached, and repair them after everything dries.
Frozen pipe cleanup → -
Fire & Smoke Damage
After a fatal fire, we secure the building, clean up the soot and smoke residue, and remove the odor alongside the biohazard cleanup, so your family works with one company on both jobs instead of two.
Fire damage restoration → -
Mold Remediation
Mold can grow anywhere moisture lingers, from a basement corner to the back of a closet. We test what you’ve found, seal off the area, remove the growth and anything it ruined, and rebuild what came out.
Mold remediation → -
Storm & Ice Damming
If an ice dam pushes meltwater under the shingles or high wind tears at the roof and siding, we cover the damage right away, dry the rooms where water got in, and handle the repairs inside and out.
Storm damage repair → Reconstruction
If the scene reached the subfloor or framing, our construction crew rebuilds it and refinishes the floor and walls to match the surrounding space, so the room appears as it did before the incident.
General contracting →
Carpet in the room where it happened will almost certainly need to be replaced, but carpet in the nearby rooms often comes back with our carpet cleaning. If the smell has spread past the affected area, our odor removal team treats those rooms too. When a policy covers the cleanup, we also help with the insurance claim. Not sure what you need? Call us.

Grand County Biohazard Cleanup FAQs
Will the flooring have to come out?
Only where fluids reached it. Sealed hard flooring can often be cleaned and disinfected in place, but carpet, pad, and any subfloor the fluids soaked into are removed. We check how far they traveled, including under baseboards and into the subfloor, and take out only what’s affected, so as much of the room as possible stays.
Will my family have to see the room before it’s cleaned?
No. We can assess the room, agree on the scope with one family member by phone, and do the work without anyone needing to go inside. If you live out of town, someone you trust can let our crew in, and we’ll handle the rest.
What happens to my loved one’s belongings?
Nothing is thrown out automatically. Items the scene never touched stay where they are, hard items that were affected can usually be cleaned and then disinfected, and photos, papers, jewelry, and keepsakes from the affected area are set aside for you. We talk with you before anything is discarded.
How long does biohazard cleanup take?
Usually one to three days. Many one-room jobs take about a day, and the work runs longer when flooring, subfloor, or drywall has to come out or the odor has reached other rooms. We’ll tell you how long yours should take once we’ve seen it.
Do you clean up fingerprint powder and other residue after an investigation?
Yes. Investigators don’t clean the scene, so once it’s released, we remove fingerprint powder and the other residue they leave as part of our cleanup, so the room is restored in one job.
Will the smell go away after a death in the house?
Yes, once the source is gone. The odor comes from fluids that soaked into porous materials, so air fresheners only cover it. We remove what absorbed the fluids, clean and disinfect the area, and treat the air. Together, those steps clear the smell for good.
